Sopore, May 7 (JKNS): As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Lazzat Spices organised a grand sports tournament in Sopore with support from Jammu and Kashmir Police to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy lifestyle among youth.

The tournament witnessed participation from at least eight teams from different areas, drawing an enthusiastic response from local youth and sports lovers. The event carried the message of building a drug-free society and encouraging youngsters to stay connected with positive and constructive activities.

The occasion was graced by Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore Iftikhar Talib, DySP DAR Mohd Abdullah, DySP PC Sopore Syed Nazeef, and DySP PC Wadoora Gurpreet Singh, besides civil society members and local residents.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Sopore Iftikhar Talib (JKAS) said the initiative forms part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan being carried out across Jammu and Kashmir to safeguard youth from the menace of drugs.

“Our aim is to involve youngsters in sports and constructive activities so that they remain away from drugs and other anti-social activities. Sports serve as a powerful medium to build discipline, confidence and unity among youth,” he said.

He said police are committed to ensuring a safer and drug-free society through continuous awareness programmes and public participation.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Lazzat Spices Aijaz Bhat said the company was proud to organise the initiative aimed at social reform and youth engagement.

“Youth are the backbone of society and it is our collective responsibility to guide them towards a better future. Such tournaments provide a positive platform and help keep youngsters away from drugs and anti-social activities,” he said.

The participants and locals appreciated the initiative and called for more such programmes to channelise the energy of youth in a positive direction. (JKNS)
