Kupwara, May 9 (JKNS): Chak Keegam Battalion organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Rally at Chak Keegam Garrison on Friday, reaffirming its continued commitment towards the welfare, rehabilitation, and engagement of veterans and their dependents. A total of 73 veterans participated in the event along with their family members.

The rally commenced with an address by Commander 8 Sector RR, who warmly welcomed the ex-servicemen, acknowledged their dedicated services to the nation, and assured prompt redressal of their concerns and grievances.

The event served as a comprehensive outreach platform aimed at facilitating welfare assistance, grievance redressal, and awareness regarding various government and Army welfare schemes. Representatives from JAKLI Records were present to assist veterans with pension-related issues, documentation support, and record updation procedures.

A dedicated medical team, including the RMO of Chak Keegam Battalion and officials from ECHS Kupwara, conducted health consultations, basic diagnostic check-ups, and distributed essential medicines to the attendees.

Awareness sessions were also conducted on existing and newly introduced welfare schemes, resettlement opportunities, financial assistance programmes, and digital literacy initiatives. Banking representatives assisted veterans regarding pension disbursement and digital banking services.

The rally also featured colourful cultural performances by students of Harshan AGS Krusan School, which were highly appreciated by the veterans and dignitaries present. Following the performances, the students were felicitated by Commander 8 Sector RR.

Representatives from various civil departments and organisations, including UdChalo, NRLM, Pisciculture Department, Forest Department, Horticulture Department, and Quality Healthcare Hospital Bramri Drugmulla Kupwara, participated in the event and shared information regarding self-employment opportunities, small start-up initiatives, and welfare programmes available for veterans.

The event concluded with a community lunch for all attendees, further strengthening the enduring bond between the Indian Army and its veterans while reflecting the Army’s unwavering dedication towards their welfare and wellbeing.(JKNS)
