New Delhi, May 11 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi to discuss several important issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, including restoration of statehood, reservation matters and business rules.

As per details available with news agency JKNS, CM Omar met home minister in New Delhi, where he discussed several matters related to Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier this morning while speaking to reporters in Srinagar, as per news agency JKNS, Omar Abdullah had said that restoration of statehood remains a major issue for his government and would again be raised during his meeting with the Home Minister.

“I wish we had got statehood in one meeting. Then we would have got it long ago. The process is going on, but whenever we meet, I always talk about statehood,” the Chief Minister had said.

Omar Abdullah had also stated that apart from statehood, he intended to discuss several matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir including business rules, reservation issues and matters referred to Delhi by the Lieutenant Governor.

“There are many issues which are better discussed directly with the Home Minister. Today in Delhi, I will speak to him about all these matters,” he had said.

The Chief Minister had further remarked that powers related to telecom restrictions, including internet shutdowns and mobile service suspension, should remain with the Lieutenant Governor as long as law and order and security continue to remain under the LG administration.

“Telephone tapping, internet shutdowns or suspension of mobile services are linked to law and order and security, which are under the Home Department and the LG. So these powers should remain with them,” he had said.

He had also dismissed speculation over cabinet reshuffle, saying governance and development works were continuing smoothly and that any reshuffle would happen at an “appropriate time” after consultation with the party leadership. (JKNS)
