Student Dies, Three Injured in Midnight Fire at Darul Uloom in Anantnag

Srinagar, May 12 (JKNS): One student lost his life while three others sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out during the intervening night at a Mosque-cum-Darul Uloom on Court Road Mattan Chowk in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, officials said.

Reports reaching news agency JKNS that the fire erupted at Darul Uloom Baba Haider Reshi, causing damage to the religious institution before fire and emergency service personnel, assisted by locals and students, managed to bring the blaze under control.

During the incident, four students suffered burn injuries and were shifted to GMC Anantnag for treatment.

The injured were aged 15-17-year-old, Officials said doctors at GMC Anantnag declared one brought dead on arrival.

The deceased was identified as 15-year-old namely, Bilal Ahmad Kumar son if Mohammad Akbar resident of Wardwan.

The other two three injured students are undergoing treatment at GMC Anantnag, while third one was referred to Srinagar hospital, an official said.

Preliminary reports suggest that the fire was caused by a short circuit. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
