Oslo, May 18 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday was conferred with Norway’s highest civilian honour, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, in recognition of his contribution towards strengthening India-Norway relations and his global leadership.
As per news agency JKNS, The honour was conferred by King Harald V during PM Modi’s visit to Norway. The award is presented for exceptional service in advancing Norway’s interests and promoting international relations.
This marks the 32nd international honour received by Prime Minister Modi.
A day earlier, PM Modi was also awarded Sweden’s prestigious Royal Order of the Polar Star, Degree Commander Grand Cross for his contributions to bilateral relations and visionary leadership. The award is regarded as Sweden’s highest honour conferred upon foreign Heads of Government.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Oslo on a two-day visit from Sweden. The visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in 43 years and is also Modi’s maiden visit to the country. (JKNS)
