Srinagar, May 20 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson and senior BJP leader Dr. Darakhshan Andrabi on Wednesday said that restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir would take place “when the time comes,” while accusing the ruling National Conference (NC) of misleading people after securing a massive public mandate.
Speaking to reporters, as per news agency JKNS, Andrabi alleged that the National Conference had failed to fulfil the promises made to people during elections and claimed that public trust in the party was declining rapidly.
“They took votes by making promises, but people are now witnessing the reality. The public has realised the deception,” Andrabi said.
She further claimed that many grassroots workers and supporters of the National Conference were joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), attributing the shift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s developmental vision and governance policies.
On the issue of statehood restoration, Andrabi said the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister had already made their position clear in Parliament.
“What our Prime Minister and Home Minister have stated regarding statehood will happen, InshaAllah, but at the appropriate time,” she said.
The BJP leader also targeted the National Conference, PDP and Congress, accusing them of keeping the people of Jammu and Kashmir deprived of their rights for political interests.
“These parties themselves seek support from the Centre but try to keep the people of Jammu and Kashmir deprived. Today, people want to move forward with development and progress, and that is why they are associating with the BJP,” she added. (JKNS)
