Srinagar, May 20 (JKNS): An unidentified person allegedly jumped into river Jhelum from Budshah Bridge in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk area on Wednesday late evening, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the person jumped into the river from the bridge late this evening, following which police teams immediately rushed to the spot.
They said rescue teams from SDRF and River Police were pressed into service and a search operation was launched in the river to trace the person.
The identity of the individual and the circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately known.
Meanwhile, rescue operations were going on till the filing of this report and further details are awaited. (JKNS)
