Srinagar, May 20 (JKNS): Acting swiftly on a viral social media video in which some auto-rickshaw drivers were allegedly heard making objectionable and derogatory remarks against the modesty of women, Police Station Shaheedganj took suo motu cognizance of the incident and initiated immediate action.
As per news agency JKNS, police identified and arrested two accused persons involved in the case. The accused have been identified as Adil Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Nabi Shah, resident of Draigam Budgam, and Mehraj Uddin Rafique, son of Abdul Rashid, resident of Brain Nishat, presently residing at Natipora. Both are stated to be auto-rickshaw drivers by profession.
Officials said that two e-rickshaws bearing registration numbers JK01BA-0714 and JK01BC-0277 have also been seized in connection with the case.
Police said that further investigation has been taken up, and strict action will be taken as per law against anyone found involved in such objectionable and unlawful conduct.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring strict action against those attempting to spread indecency or disturb social harmony. (JKNS)
