Authorities Launch Massive Food Safety Crackdown Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha in Anantnag

Anantnag, May 22 (JKNS): Ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2026, the Food Safety and Legal Metrology Departments on Friday launched a joint inspection drive across various markets in Anantnag district to ensure availability of safe and hygienic food items for consumers during the festive season.

As per news agency JKNS, on the eve Eid ul-Adha, a joint inspection drive was conducted by the Food Safety and Legal Metrology Departments Anantnag at various markets of the district.

 

During the inspection, particular focus was given to the ingredients and raw materials being used in the manufacturing of bakery items and sweets, including the checking of eggs, milk products and other ingredients to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and rules/regulations framed thereunder.

 

The joint inspection team also checked sanitation and hygienic conditions of the establishments, storage practices, labeling requirements, use of standard weights and measures, and overall compliance with food safety standards in order to safeguard public health during the festive occasion.

 

Meanwhile, the authorities have urged all Food Business Operators to strictly comply with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the rules and regulations framed thereunder in letter and spirit, to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food to the consumers.

 

The general public has also been advised to remain vigilant while purchasing food articles and to thoroughly check the labels of packaged food products, particularly the date of manufacture, expiry, FSSAI License number, and other mandatory declarations. (JKNS)
