Srinagar, May 25 (JKNS): President of India Droupadi Murmu has conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award upon Shafi Shauq in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the field of literature and education.
As per news agency JKNS, Prof. Shafi Shauq is a renowned Indian creative writer who has authored, edited and translated numerous books in Kashmiri, English, Hindi and Urdu languages.
He served as a faculty member at the University of Kashmir for 33 years and is widely regarded for his contribution to Kashmiri literature and academics.
Besides writing poetry and fictional literature, Prof. Shauq has translated several works of Indian literature and many notable compositions from Kashmiri literature into English and Hindi, helping promote regional literature at the national level. (JKNS)
