CRPF organises plantation drive on World Environment Day

CRPF has celebrated World Environment Day in all their units deployed at Srinagar, Budgam and Ganderbal districts, Group Centre and Sector HQ of CRPF at Nishat in which CRPF has organized a large-scale tree plantation drive across the region, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and strengthening ecological balance.

During various events, approx. 3000 saplings of various indigenous and environmental friendly species were planted with the objective of enhancing green cover, restoring ecological health, and promoting biodiversity in the area.

CRPF organized such plantation drives not only in Jammu and Kashmir region but also across the nation and making it a big event highlighting the importance of sustainable environment required for holistic development that will lead us to achieve the dream of nation of Viksit Bharat.

CRPF officers, Sub-ordinate officers and jawans, deployed across Central Kashmir region has enthusiastically participated in the event, underscoring the CRPF’s commitment to not only ensuring internal security but also contributing in taking care of the environment and society.

The main plantation drive was conducted at Group Centre CRPF Srinagar under the guidance of Shri Rajesh Kumar, IPS, Additional Director General, CRPF, J&K Zone, in the presence of Shri Pawan Kumar Sharma, Inspector General, CRPF, Srinagar Sector and other senior officers, subordinate officers and Jawans of CRPF.

Addressing the gathering, the dignitaries highlighted the growing environmental challenges and emphasized the need for collective efforts towards afforestation and environmental conservation.

Rajesh Kumar, IPS, ADG, CRPF, J&K Zone, stressed that the true success of the plantation drive would not be judged merely by the number of saplings planted but by their survival and healthy growth.

He emphasized the importance of regular care, watering, protection and maintenance of the newly planted saplings so that the Force can achieve its long-term environmental conservation goals and contribute meaningfully towards a greener future.

He reiterated that such plantation drives will be continued in future also.

The plantation drive reflects the commitment of CRPF towards environmental protection and sustainable development. Adequate arrangements have been made for the upkeep and monitoring of the saplings to ensure their healthy growth and survival.

The programmes concluded with a collective pledge by all participants to protect the environment, increase green cover and contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future for generations to come. (JKNS)
