Kupwara, Jun 9 (JKNS): In a unique initiative aimed at promoting tourism and community engagement, the Indian Army has launched free open-air movie screenings at the iconic Rooh-e-Hind Flag Site in the picturesque Keran Valley of north Kashmir.

The initiative has been introduced to commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor and is being organized every Saturday evening on the banks of the scenic Kishanganga River, directly opposite the Rooh-e-Hind Flag Site.

The weekend screenings have quickly emerged as a major attraction for tourists and local residents alike. Families, children, youth, and visitors gather under the open sky to enjoy popular films in a peaceful and breathtaking natural setting.

The initiative offers a unique recreational experience, allowing people to spend quality time with their loved ones while enjoying entertainment amidst the serene beauty of the border region.

Locals have welcomed the effort, describing it as a refreshing addition to the region’s growing tourism landscape. Many young people have expressed appreciation for the programme, calling it a positive platform for social interaction and weekend recreation.

Apart from providing entertainment, the initiative is also contributing to the promotion of border tourism in Keran, a region known for its natural beauty and strategic significance.

The screenings are helping attract more visitors to the area while creating a vibrant atmosphere for residents and tourists alike.

The Indian Army stated that the programme reflects its continued commitment towards public welfare, youth engagement, and fostering peace, harmony, and development in the region.

Through such community-centric initiatives, the Army aims to strengthen its bond with local communities while encouraging tourism and cultural activities in remote border areas.

The open-air movie screenings are expected to continue throughout the summer season, offering visitors an unforgettable cinematic experience against the backdrop of the majestic Kishanganga River and the renowned Rooh-e-Hind Flag Site.(JKNS)
