Srinagar, Jun 9 (JKNS): The National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India (Global WWAO), New Delhi, has appointed Aafaaq Rashid Khan, popularly known as the “Iron Man of J&K” and a resident of Batamaloo, Srinagar, as the Vice President for the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
The appointment has been made in recognition of Khan’s unwavering dedication to social service, public welfare, and community development.
According to the appointment letter issued by the organization, he has been entrusted with the responsibility of promoting human rights awareness, advancing social justice initiatives, and strengthening public welfare activities across Jammu & Kashmir.
In his new role, Aafaaq Rashid Khan will work towards creating greater awareness among citizens about their rights and responsibilities, supporting initiatives aimed at social upliftment, and coordinating with various stakeholders to address issues related to human rights and public welfare.
He has also been authorized to organize seminars, awareness campaigns, workshops, and outreach programmes to educate the public on matters concerning human rights, equality, and social justice.
Expressing his gratitude on the occasion, Aafaaq Rashid Khan thanked the leadership of the National Human Rights Social Justice Council of India for placing their trust and confidence in him.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working tirelessly for the protection of human rights, addressing public grievances, and contributing positively to the welfare and development of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.
The appointment shall remain valid until December 31, 2027, or until further orders are issued by the competent authority. The development has been widely welcomed by colleagues, social activists, and well-wishers, who expressed confidence that Khan’s appointment will further strengthen efforts aimed at promoting justice, equality, human dignity, and public welfare throughout the Union Territory.
