Baramulla, Jun 12 (JKNS): Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla has ordered a detailed inquiry into an incident involving an advocate and police personnel at Police Station Kunzer, following allegations of misconduct and use of force during and after the execution of a court-directed action in Tangmarg.

Police spokesperson in a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, On 10 Jun in village Dhobiwan, a party from PS Kunzer, during the course of execution of a status-quo order issued by JMIC Tangmarg, initiated legal and preventive proceedings in accordance with law.

Subsequently, an altercation is reported to have taken place inside PS Kunzer involving an advocate and police personnel wherein allegations were raised regarding the conduct of police personnel during the incident.

In view of the concerns expressed and in order to ensure complete transparency, fairness and objectivity, SSP Baramulla has directed for a detailed inquiry into the entire sequence of events, which has been entrusted to a Gazetted Officer.

The inquiry shall examine all aspects of the incident, including the conduct of all persons involved, the circumstances leading to the registration of the case, and any allegations of misconduct or use of force. Statements of all concerned persons shall be recorded and all available evidence shall be examined.

District Police Baramulla reiterates its commitment to the rule of law and respect for all stakeholders, including members of the legal fraternity. It is assured that if any lapse, misconduct or deviation from established procedures on the part of any police personnel is found during the course of inquiry, appropriate action shall be taken and accountability shall be ensured strictly in accordance with law.

The investigation into the registered case as well as the departmental inquiry shall proceed independently on merits.

The public is requested not to be guided by speculation or unverified information and to allow the due process of law to take its course. (JKNS)
