Journalist Zubair Qureshi Bereaved, Grandmother Passes Away in Road Accident

Karnah, Jun 15 (JKNS): Shamsun Nisa, 74, mother of noted Pahari writer and District President of the Pahari Tribal Employees Welfare Forum (PTEWF) Iftikhar Qureshi, and grandmother of journalist and writer Zubair Qureshi, passed away in a road accident in Kupwara district on Sunday evening.

 

The last rites were performed on Monday at Baghbella, Karnah, where thousands of people attended the funeral prayers. She was later laid to rest in her ancestral graveyard at Baghbella Karnah.

 

Several prominent personalities from different walks of life attended the funeral, including former MLAs Kafil-ur-Rehman and Raja Manzoor.

 

Various journalist bodies expressed grief over her demise and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.

 

Meanwhile, in a statement, the Pahari Tribal Employees Welfare Forum expressed deep sorrow over the loss and extended its sympathies to Iftikhar Qureshi and his family.

 

The forum stated that it stands with the bereaved family during this difficult time and shares in their grief.

 

As a mark of respect and solidarity, the PTEWF announced that it will observe three days of mourning. (JKNS)
