Srinagar, Jun 15 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday said his government would intensify efforts for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood and plans to raise the issue at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament.

Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, as pwr news agency JKNS, CM Omar said the promise of restoring statehood made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir must be fulfilled.

“Our complete intention is that at the beginning of the Monsoon Session, to remind the Centre of the promise made to the people of Jammu and Kashmir regarding statehood, we will go to Delhi and put our message before the nation at Jantar Mantar,” he said.

The Chief Minister said he had recently discussed the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Jammu and Kashmir’s financial position and developmental priorities.

“We spoke to the Prime Minister on various issues, including statehood, the financial situation of Jammu and Kashmir and how development can be accelerated. I hope the people of Jammu and Kashmir benefit from these discussions,” Omar said.

He reiterated that the government would continue pursuing the restoration of statehood through all democratic and constitutional means. (JKNS)
