Srinagar, Jun 19 (JKNS): Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma on Friday visited the forward areas of Kilo Force and Baltal to review the prevailing security situation and assess the operational preparedness of troops deployed for Operation SHIVA-2026 ahead of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
According to a post by the Indian Army’s Northern Command, as per news agency JKNS, the Army Commander was briefed on the current security environment and the measures undertaken to enhance vigilance and operational readiness in the area.
During the visit, Lt Gen Sharma interacted with commanders and troops and emphasized the importance of sustained alertness, effective coordination and mission-oriented execution to meet emerging security challenges.
He reviewed the preparedness of troops deployed along the yatra route and stressed maintaining a high level of operational readiness to ensure a secure environment for pilgrims.
The Indian Army reiterated its commitment to providing a safe and secure atmosphere for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026 in close synergy and coordination with all stakeholders involved in the pilgrimage arrangements. (JKNS)
