Beerwah, June 21 (JKNS): The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS), Zone Beerwah, today celebrated the 12th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Beerwah. This year’s celebrations were held under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
The programme was organized under the guidance of the District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO), Budgam, and witnessed active participation from students representing various schools across Zone Beerwah.
During the event, students performed a variety of yoga exercises, asanas, and breathing techniques, highlighting the importance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, emotional balance, and a healthy lifestyle. Participants demonstrated discipline, harmony, and coordination, reflecting the balance between body and mind that yoga seeks to achieve.
The programme was conducted under the leadership of Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) Beerwah, Mohammad Yaseen Jan, who encouraged students and participants to adopt yoga as an integral part of their daily lives.
Addressing the gathering, Mohammad Yaseen Jan emphasized that yoga is not only beneficial for physical fitness but also plays a significant role in enhancing mental peace and fostering a positive outlook on life. He described yoga as a holistic practice that strengthens individuals physically, mentally, and spiritually.
He stated that regular yoga practice helps reduce stress, improve concentration, enhance emotional stability, and contribute to overall health and well-being. He further urged young people to incorporate yoga into their daily routines to lead healthier, happier, and more balanced lives.
Highlighting the relevance of this year’s theme, he noted that yoga serves as an effective tool for maintaining good health, preventing diseases, and ensuring healthy ageing and long-term physical and mental wellness.
The event also featured impressive demonstrations of various yoga postures and techniques by trained instructors and students, which were highly appreciated by the audience. Teachers, sports officials, students, and members of the local community attended the programme in large numbers.
At the conclusion of the event, participants pledged to embrace yoga as a means of achieving a healthy body, a peaceful mind, and a balanced lifestyle.
