Srinagar, Jun 23 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir administration has granted permission for the traditional 8th Muharram procession scheduled to be held on June 24, allowing mourners to take out the procession from Guru Bazar to Dalgate via Budshah Kadal and M.A Road, subject to strict adherence to laid-down conditions.
According to an order issued by the District Magistrate Srinagar, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS, permission has been granted, following a report submitted by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar.
As per the order, the procession will commence from Guru Bazar at 6:00 AM, with the tail crossing Jehangir Chowk by 7:00 AM and J&K Bank Headquarters on M.A Road by 8:30 AM, following the traditional route only.
The administration has directed that only one tube of M.A Road (left side) shall be used for the procession, while the other side will remain open for emergency service vehicles.
The order further stipulates that no anti-national, anti-administration or provocative speeches, slogans or propaganda will be allowed. Hoisting of flags carrying provocative content, photographs of terrorists or symbols of banned organisations has also been strictly prohibited.
Authorities have directed organisers to maintain communal harmony, cooperate with police and security agencies, avoid disruption to traffic movement and ensure that no damage is caused to public property.
The administration has also banned the use of drones during the procession and directed organisers to regulate loudspeaker usage in accordance with the Noise Pollution Rules while ensuring public order at all times.
Additionally, organisers have been asked to arrange first-aid facilities in coordination with the concerned departments.
The order warns that any violation of the conditions will invite legal action against the organisers. (JKNS)
