Beerwah, Jun 25 (JKNS): On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the renowned Kashmiri philosopher, scholar, and mystic Abhinavagupta, a large number of Kashmiri Pandits visited the sacred Bhairav Cave in Beerwah to pay homage to the great spiritual master and celebrate his enduring philosophical legacy.

Devotees, scholars, and members of the community gathered at the historic site and paid their respects while reflecting on Abhinavagupta’s immense contributions to philosophy, spirituality, aesthetics, and the intellectual heritage of Kashmir. Speakers highlighted his pivotal role in the development and preservation of Kashmir Shaivism and discussed his profound teachings on consciousness, self-realization, and spiritual enlightenment.

The gathering emphasized the need to preserve and promote the rich philosophical heritage of Abhinavagupta for future generations. Participants noted that his teachings continue to inspire seekers, scholars, and spiritual practitioners across the world.

According to tradition, the sacred Bhairav Cave holds special significance in the life of Abhinavagupta. It is believed that the great philosopher entered the cave along with nearly 1,200 disciples and followers and never returned, making the site one of the most revered places associated with his spiritual journey and mystical legacy.

Social activist Javid Beigh Said, while addressing the gathering, spoke about Kashmir’s rich spiritual philosophy and civilizational heritage. He emphasized the importance of preserving the Valley’s centuries-old traditions of wisdom, spirituality, and cultural harmony, describing Abhinavagupta as one of the greatest intellectual figures produced by Kashmir.

The event received full support and cooperation from the Tehsil Administration Beerwah, Municipal Committee Beerwah, and other local authorities. Tehsildar Beerwah Ms. Alya Tabasum and DySP Probationer Moin Khan personally supervised and facilitated the arrangements to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.

Participants appreciated the efforts of the Beerwah Police for maintaining law and order and providing all necessary assistance throughout the event. Local residents of Beerwah also extended their cooperation and hospitality, contributing significantly to the successful observance of the occasion.

Many elderly residents expressed happiness and satisfaction at seeing Kashmiri Pandits visiting Beerwah and participating in the commemorative event, describing it as a positive step towards preserving Kashmir’s shared cultural and spiritual heritage.

The devotees reaffirmed their commitment to preserving Abhinavagupta’s teachings and spreading awareness about his timeless philosophical, spiritual, and cultural contributions, which remain a source of pride for Kashmir and its rich civilizational heritage. (JKNS)
