Victoria (Seychelles), June 28 (JKNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday conferred with the prestigious ‘Guardian of the Blue Horizon’ award by the President of Seychelles, Dr. Patrick Herminie, in recognition of his distinguished global leadership in promoting the Blue Economy, sustainable development, climate resilience and international cooperation.
The honour was presented through a Presidential Citation issued by the Republic of Seychelles during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the island nation, as per news agency JKNS.
According to the citation, the award recognises Prime Minister Modi’s steadfast commitment to sustainable development, environmental stewardship, responsible management of ocean resources and continued support for the aspirations of Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
The citation further acknowledged his contribution towards advancing initiatives that promote sustainable economic growth, innovation and stronger international partnerships to address global challenges.
President Patrick Herminie also recognised Prime Minister Modi’s pivotal role in strengthening the longstanding friendship and strategic partnership between India and Seychelles.
The citation stated that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, bilateral ties between the two countries have continued to flourish, reflecting shared values, mutual respect and a common commitment to peace, prosperity and sustainable development.
Describing the honour as a symbol of the enduring friendship between the people of India and Seychelles, the Republic of Seychelles appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s contribution towards advancing bilateral relations and his continued friendship with the island nation.
The Presidential Citation was issued under Article 66(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Seychelles and formally conferred on June 28, 2026. (JKNS)
