Srinagar, July 4 (JKNS): A 13-year-old boy tragically drowned in the River Jhelum near Lasjan area of Srinagar on Saturday, officials said.

Officials told the news agency JKNS, the deceased has been identified as Lukmaan Malik (13), son of Javaid Ahmad Malik, a resident of Lasjan.

The boy accidentally drowned in the river under circumstances that are being ascertained. Rescue teams rushed to the spot and efforts were launched to retrieve the body.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident, while further details are awaited. (JKNS)
