Srinagar, July 9 (JKNS): Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Suleman Choudhary on Thursday conducted an extensive tour of Srinagar’s downtown areas to review traffic arrangements, directing officers to intensify efforts for decongestion, remove encroachments and adopt a participative, people-friendly approach to improve traffic management.

As per news agency JKNS, IGP Traffic Suleman Choudhary, along with SSP Traffic City Srinagar Ajaz Ahmad Bhat and DySP G.M. Bhat, made an extensive tour of the downtown area to take stock of the traffic arrangements.

The IGP Traffic stressed the need for streamlining traffic in congested areas by adopting a participative and people-friendly approach.

The recent interventions being made to ensure smooth traffic mobility were appreciated, and more such efforts to decongest downtown were discussed in detail.

The IGP directed the officers to make their presence visible and provide all possible assistance to the public in market areas and around places of religious importance.

He also directed the officers to remove all encroachments affecting the smooth movement of traffic.

The IGP stressed the need to take all stakeholders on board to bring about a lasting change in the traffic scenario across the downtown area.

He also reviewed the traffic flow at locations where one-way traffic has recently been introduced.

People also interacted with the IGP and appreciated the work being carried out by the Traffic Police in recent times. (JKNS)
