Srinagar, July 9 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has reconstituted the Governing Board of Gandhi Memorial College (GMC), Srinagar, with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as Chairperson and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as Co-Chairperson, alongside senior government officials, University of Kashmir representatives and members of the Hindu Education Society.
The order has been issued vide Government Order No. 1193-JK(GAD) of 2026 dated July 9, 2026, and signed by Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, M. Raju, IAS, a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS stated that, the Minister for Education will serve as Vice-Chairperson of the Governing Board.
The Board also includes the Administrative Secretaries of the Finance Department, Higher Education Department, and Department of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, besides the Director Colleges, J&K.
The University of Kashmir will be represented by the Dean Academic Affairs and Dean College Development Council as members.
The order further nominates Prof. B. L. Zutshi, President of the Hindu Education Society, Kashmir, as a member, while the Principal of Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, will function as Member Secretary of the Board.
Other nominated members include Prof. Ashok Aima, former Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu; Prof. Veena Pandita, former Chairperson of JKBOSE; Prof. Verinder Rawal, General Secretary of the Hindu Education Society; S.K. Raina, Member Finance; M.K. Jalali, Virender Raina, M.K. Bangroo and Advocate Shivani Jalali, all associated with the Hindu Education Society, Kashmir.
The reconstituted Governing Board will oversee the administration and development of Gandhi Memorial College, Srinagar, in accordance with the relevant rules and regulations. (JKNS)
