Srinagar, July 12 (JKNS): A male Amarnath pilgrim was found dead inside a bus at the Amarnath Yatra Transit Camp in Pantha Chowk on Sunday morning, prompting police to launch an investigation, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as 56-year-old, Joga Singh, son of Karam Singh, a resident of Gaushala Pura, Bajra Basti, Jochawal, Punjab.
They said the pilgrim was found lying dead inside a Yatra bus at the transit camp in Pantha Chowk.
Soon after receiving the information, a police party from Police Station Pantha Chowk rushed to the spot and initiated legal proceedings. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team has also been informed to assist in the investigation.
The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, and cognizance has been taken while further investigation initiated. (JKNS)
