Karnah, July 15 (JKNS): In a significant initiative aimed at promoting livestock health and improving the socio-economic well-being of farmers living in remote pasture areas, the Animal Husbandry Department on Tuesday organised an Awareness-cum-Veterinary Camp at Gagdari Behak in Karnah.
The camp witnessed the active participation of a large number of livestock farmers, shepherds, and local residents who availed themselves of various veterinary services and gained valuable knowledge about scientific animal husbandry practices.
During the programme, officials of the Animal Husbandry Department sensitised farmers about various welfare schemes being implemented by the department for the benefit of livestock owners. They highlighted the importance of these schemes in enhancing livestock productivity, ensuring better animal healthcare, and improving farmers’ livelihoods.
A major focus of the awareness programme was on preventive animal healthcare. Veterinary experts educated farmers about the crucial role of timely vaccination in preventing infectious diseases and stressed the need for regular deworming to protect livestock from internal parasites, improve animal growth, and increase milk and meat production.
The veterinary team also conducted a comprehensive health examination of livestock brought by farmers to the camp. Sick animals were examined on the spot and provided with the necessary treatment and medicines.
Farmers received expert guidance on disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, breeding, and scientific livestock management practices to ensure healthier and more productive animals.
The participating farmers appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Animal Husbandry Department for conducting the camp in the remote grazing area, where access to veterinary services is often limited.
They said such outreach programmes are highly beneficial for pastoral communities and requested the department to organise similar camps regularly in other far-flung areas of Karnah.
Officials reiterated the department’s commitment to extending quality veterinary healthcare and awareness programmes to every remote village and pasture, ensuring that livestock owners receive timely assistance and the latest technical guidance for sustainable livestock development.(JKNS)
