Srinagar, July 19 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has assumed direct management of the historic Ziyarat Baba Lateef-ud-Din Reshi (RA) at Poshkar Khag in Budgam district following an order issued by Waqf Board Chairperson Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi.
As per news agency JKNS, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, has ordered the direct takeover of Ziyarat Baba Lateef-ud-Din Reshi (RA), Poshkar Khag, Budgam, bringing the revered shrine and its allied Waqf properties under the direct management of the J&K Waqf Board through Order No. 119 of 2026, with immediate effect.
Issued under the provisions of the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development (UMEED) Act, 1995, the decision is aimed at ensuring transparent administration, safeguarding Waqf assets, and improving the management and preservation of the shrine and its associated properties.
The decision follows Dr. Andrabi’s recent visit to the historic shrine, where she was accorded a warm and enthusiastic welcome by the local residents. During the visit, it was observed that the shrine and its allied assets had suffered from prolonged neglect, while the management of its revenue and properties lacked transparency. The local community made a sincere appeal to the Hon’ble Chairperson to intervene and restore the historical and spiritual significance of this revered shrine.
Under the order subsequently issued, the J&K Waqf Board has assumed administrative control of the Ziyarat, Jamia Masjid, all allied Waqf properties, records, accounts, donations, offerings, and other assets. Mr. Mohammad Rafiq Ganaie, Incharge Administrator of Ziyarat Shareef Baba Payam-ud-Din Reshi, Tangmarg, has been authorized to oversee the takeover and prepare a comprehensive inventory of the institution’s assets and records.
Pending verification and the formal transfer of records, all bank accounts have been frozen, and an Audit Committee has been constituted to ensure complete financial transparency and accountability.
The decision reflects Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi’s continued commitment to institutional reforms, transparent governance, and the preservation of Jammu & Kashmir’s rich religious and spiritual heritage through accountable, professional, and people-centric management of Waqf institutions. (JKNS)
