Budgam, July 20 (JKNS): Umer Malik Academy was formally inaugurated on Sunday at Harran, Soibugh, Budgam, during a grand ceremony attended by the DO Police Soibugh, local dignitaries, sports personalities, coaches, parents, and a large gathering of young athletes.
The academy has been established with the vision of promoting sports, discipline, and positive youth development through modern and professional training.
A special inaugural function was organized to mark the occasion, drawing enthusiastic participation from young athletes, government officials, community members, and sports enthusiasts.
The event reflected the growing interest of Budgam’s youth in sports and the community’s commitment to providing them with quality opportunities to develop their talent.
Speaking on the occasion, the academy management said that Umer Malik Academy has been established to provide professional coaching and high-quality training, particularly for Taekwondo athletes.
Besides physical fitness and technical skills, the academy will focus on instilling values such as discipline, self-confidence, determination, teamwork, leadership, mutual respect, and sportsmanship among young players.
Addressing the gathering, the DO Police Soibugh congratulated the academy management on the successful inauguration and described the initiative as an important milestone for the future of the region’s youth. He said that sports play a vital role in personality development, self-confidence, and discipline, while also encouraging young people to stay away from negative influences and social evils by engaging in healthy and constructive activities.
He further assured that the Police Department would continue to support initiatives aimed at youth welfare, sports promotion, and positive social engagement.
Local representatives and other distinguished guests also appreciated the establishment of the academy and congratulated its management. They expressed confidence that the institution would provide an excellent platform for talented youth from Budgam and help produce athletes capable of excelling at district, state, national, and international levels.
The academy management announced that, in addition to regular coaching, it will organize sports training camps, tournaments, fitness workshops, and awareness programmes throughout the year to encourage young people to adopt healthy lifestyles, remain physically active, and achieve excellence in sports.
On the occasion, the founder of the academy, Malik Raju, said, “Our mission is to empower young people through Taekwondo by developing discipline, self-confidence, respect, and self-defence skills. We sincerely thank everyone who joined us on this memorable occasion. Together, let us build a stronger and brighter future.”
The academy also unveiled its official motto: “We Train Together, We Succeed Together.”
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all distinguished guests, parents, coaches, supporters, and participants whose presence made the inauguration memorable.
