Shopian, July 20 (JKNS): The open garbage dumping site near Green View School on the main road at Vehil Choudrigund has been successfully cleared following the intervention of the concerned authorities.
For a long time, local residents had been raising concerns over the indiscriminate dumping of household waste and garbage at the spot.
The accumulation of waste had created an unhygienic environment and posed a serious health risk, particularly because of its close proximity to the school and a nearby orchard.
Residents said the garbage not only affected students, commuters, and people living in the area but also attracted crows and stray animals. The birds frequently gathered on the fruit trees in the adjacent orchard, causing considerable damage to the crop and creating additional problems for orchard owners.
Acting on the public concern, the authorities deployed a JCB machine to remove the accumulated waste and restore cleanliness in the area. The timely action has brought much-needed relief to local residents, who welcomed the initiative and expressed satisfaction over the prompt response.
The residents extended their heartfelt gratitude to BDO Kanjilullar Tariq Ahmad for his swift intervention and also thanked the concerned department and field staff for taking immediate action to resolve the issue.
At the same time, the people made a sincere appeal to the general public to act responsibly and refrain from dumping household waste at the location again.
They emphasized that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility and urged everyone to use designated waste disposal facilities to protect the environment, safeguard public health, and preserve the surroundings of the school and the nearby orchard.
Residents expressed hope that with public cooperation and continued attention from the authorities, the area will remain clean and free from illegal garbage dumping in the future. (JKNS)
