Srinagar, July 26 (JKNS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday paid rich tributes to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War, describing Kargil Vijay Diwas as a symbol of the Indian Army’s indomitable courage, extraordinary bravery and supreme sacrifice.

HM Shah In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, said that despite the harsh weather conditions, difficult terrain and enemy positions on the high-altitude snow-covered peaks of the Himalayas, the brave soldiers of the Indian Army forced the enemy to retreat through Operation Vijay.

“‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ is a symbol of the Indian Army’s unmatched valour and extraordinary heroism. In 1999, despite the adverse conditions and the enemy’s strategic positions on the formidable snowy peaks of the Himalayas, our brave soldiers compelled the enemy to its knees through ‘Operation Vijay’,” Shah said.

Paying homage to the martyrs, the Home Minister said he remembers with deep respect all the brave sons of the nation who made the supreme sacrifice to safeguard India’s unity and territorial integrity.

“On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I remember and pay my heartfelt tributes to all those valiant soldiers who laid down their lives to preserve the integrity of the nation,” he said.
