Srinagar, Aug 4 (JKNS): The body of a 13-year-old boy, who had slipped into the Puhroo River in Wadoora area of Sopore two days ago, was recovered on Tuesday after an extensive multi-agency search operation, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the body of Furqan Rafeeq Hajam, son of Rafeeq Ahmad Hajam and a resident of Hajam Mohalla, Wadoora Payeen, was recovered from the river near Nowpora Kalan, Sopore, after relentless efforts by rescue teams.
The search operation was jointly carried out by SDRF, MARCOS, Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, Civil Administration and local volunteers, who continued the operation for nearly two days before tracing the body.
Officials said the body was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sopore for medico-legal formalities.
Furqan had accidentally slipped into the Puhroo River while bathing on Sunday, triggering a massive search operation involving multiple rescue agencies.
Meanwhile, police have taken up further proceedings in the matter. (JKNS)
