Kupwara, Aug 6 (JKNS): The Indian Army is conducting the Chinar Volleyball Tournament 2026 from 03 August to 11 August 2026 at Panzgam (ALG), Kupwara, with the aim of promoting sportsmanship, physical fitness, discipline, teamwork and positive youth engagement among the youth of the district.
The tournament was formally inaugurated on 03 August, with the Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Kupwara, Mr. Shahzada, gracing the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest. A total of 29 teams from across Kupwara district are participating in the tournament, which is being conducted in accordance with the official rules of volleyball.
The opening ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from players, local residents and sports enthusiasts, reflecting the growing popularity of volleyball and the spirit of healthy competition. The tournament provides a platform for talented youth to showcase their sporting abilities while fostering unity, camaraderie and mutual understanding.
The matches are currently underway, with the semi-finals scheduled for 10 August 2026 and the grand finale on 11 August 2026 at Panzgam (ALG). The tournament has received an encouraging response from the local community and continues to strengthen the bond of trust and cooperation between the Indian Army and the people of Kupwara through sports.
