Sopore, Aug 9 (JKNS): A massive security crackdown against a suspected network linked to the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) is underway across Sopore and adjoining areas of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
According to officials, search operations are being conducted at around 26 locations in the Police District Sopore in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the banned organisation.
The searches are being carried out by security forces and investigating agencies at multiple locations as part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged activities and network associated with JeI.
The locations being searched include Sadiq Colony Sopore, Bomai, Goripora, Tarzoo, Shutloo Rohama, Behrampora Rafiabad and several other areas.
Senior officials said that searches are underway at several other locations as well, with further details awaited.
SSP Sopore Iftkhar Talib-JKPS, while speaking to JKNS News, confirmed that search operations are underway in connection with the investigation.
