Security measures strengthened in districts, venues and surrounding areas ahead of Independence Day celebrations
Srinagar, Aug 11 (JKNS): Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi-IPS, on Tueaday said that multi-layered security arrangements have been put in place across all districts of South Kashmir, including at venues and surrounding areas, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
Speaking to reporters, IGP Kashmir, as per news agency JKNS, said that the security arrangements would remain in place to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the forthcoming Independence Day functions.
“There is a multi-layered security arrangement in all the districts of South Kashmir. Not only in the venues, but also in the surrounding areas,” Birdi said.
He said similar arrangements would be maintained this time as well, while appealing to people to participate in the Independence Day celebrations in large numbers.
“This is the function of the people. The police acts as an organiser. As this is the function of the people, we request you to participate in this function in large numbers and make it successful,” he said.
On being asked about South Kashmir attacks, Birdi said, that is the matter of investigation, this is not the time to talk on it. (JKNS)
