Srinagar, Aug 13 (JKNS): Two back-to-back earthquakes of magnitude 5.5 and 4.3 struck the Gilgit-Baltistan region on Thursday, both occurring at a shallow depth of 10 kilometres, with mild tremors reportedly felt in parts of Kashmir and Ladakh.
The first earthquake, measuring 5.5 magnitude, occurred at around 6:05 am on August 13, 2026, at a depth of 10 kilometres, as per details available with news agency JKNS.
The second quake, measuring 4.3 magnitude, struck at around 9:54 am, also at a depth of 10 kilometres.
The shallow depth of the earthquakes contributed to tremors being felt across neighbouring areas, including parts of Kashmir and Ladakh.
