Srinagar, Aug 13 (JKNS): Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, conducted a late-night inspection of security arrangements across Srinagar on Thursday, reviewing the preparedness of police and security forces ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
The DGP was accompanied by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, and other senior officers responsible for security arrangements in the city, as per news agency JKNS.
During the inspection, DGP Prabhat visited key locations and reviewed the deployment of security personnel, naka points, checkpoints and other security measures put in place ahead of the August 15 celebrations.
The DGP also inspected the security arrangements at Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for the Independence Day function in Srinagar. He assessed the deployment pattern and reviewed measures being implemented to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the national event.
Interacting with police and security personnel deployed on the ground, Prabhat emphasised the need for maximum alertness, effective coordination among security agencies and continuous monitoring of the security situation.
He directed officers to ensure thorough frisking, intensified area domination and real-time surveillance in and around sensitive locations. He stressed that all necessary precautions must be taken to prevent any untoward incident and ensure a peaceful and incident-free Independence Day celebration.
Senior officers briefed the DGP about the overall security grid, deployment arrangements and measures undertaken for the upcoming celebrations.
The inspection formed part of the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security arrangements across Srinagar and other parts of the Union Territory ahead of Independence Day. (JKNS)
