Srinagar Aug 17 (JKNS): The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotic fervour and dignity at the premises of the 35th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Srinagar. Officers, subordinate officers and personnel of the battalion participated in the celebrations.
The programme commenced with the collective singing of “Vande Mataram”, following which Battalion Commandant Mahesh Chandra Thawal unfurled the National Flag. The officers and personnel present on the occasion then rendered the National Anthem, “Jana Gana Mana.”
Addressing the gathering, Commandant Mahesh Chandra Thawal extended Independence Day greetings to all officers and personnel and appreciated the dedicated services rendered by CRPF personnel towards safeguarding the nation’s security, peace and integrity.
He also paid tribute to personnel who have been honoured with various awards and medals for their distinguished service.
It is pertinent to mention that Commandant Mahesh Chandra Thawal has also been conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM/PSM), an honour described as a matter of pride for the battalion.
The Commandant urged all personnel to continue discharging their duties with discipline, dedication, a strong sense of responsibility and the spirit of national service. He emphasised that every member of the force should remain committed and ever-ready to serve the nation.
The programme concluded with the reaffirmation of the commitment to protect the unity, integrity and security of the country.
The personnel also pledged to continue serving the nation with utmost dedication, devotion and patriotism.(JKNS)
