Baramulla, Aug 28 (JKNS): In a heartwarming celebration of tradition, trust and community bonding, the Indian Army celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with the daughters of Uri on August 28, strengthening the enduring relationship between the armed forces and the local population.

The programme was organised under the aegis of Operation Sadbhavna by the Kalapahar Brigade, bringing together local girls and women with Army personnel in an atmosphere of warmth, affection and mutual respect.

Raksha Bandhan, which symbolises the sacred bond of protection between brothers and sisters, provided a meaningful platform for the local daughters of Uri to express their affection and gratitude towards the soldiers deployed in the area. During the event, the girls tied colourful Rakhis on the wrists of Army personnel, symbolising trust, respect and a shared sense of responsibility towards the community and the nation.

The soldiers reciprocated the gesture with warmth and assured the participating girls and women of their continued commitment towards their safety, security and well-being. The emotional interaction reflected the close bond that has developed between the Army personnel and residents of the border region over the years.

The programme also featured cultural interactions and an exchange of greetings, allowing the participants to spend meaningful time together beyond their routine engagements. Sweets were distributed among the participants, adding to the festive spirit and creating an atmosphere of happiness and camaraderie.

Local participants appreciated the initiative of the Indian Army and said that such programmes provide an important opportunity for people, particularly women and children, to interact with soldiers in a friendly and welcoming environment. They noted that initiatives undertaken under Operation Sadbhavna have helped promote mutual understanding, goodwill and a stronger sense of partnership between the Army and local communities.

The celebration assumed special significance in Uri, a strategically important border area where the Army has remained closely connected with the local population. Through community-oriented initiatives, the armed forces continue to encourage social harmony, strengthen confidence among residents and contribute to the overall development and well-being of the people.

The Raksha Bandhan celebration was therefore not merely a festive occasion but also a reflection of the spirit of unity and brotherhood that binds the Army and the people together. The Rakhis tied by the daughters of Uri served as a symbolic expression of faith and affection, while the soldiers’ response reaffirmed their commitment to protect and serve the community.

Such initiatives under Operation Sadbhavna continue to reinforce the values of national integration, mutual respect and social harmony, further strengthening the enduring bond between the Indian Army and the people of Uri. (JKNS)
