Budgam, September 4: On the auspicious occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ, a grand Milad gathering and procession was organised today at Asar-e-Shareef Peth Makhama, Beerwah, under the supervision of Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chairman, Karwan-e-Islami International. Thousands of devotees and people from different areas participated in the celebrations. The Milad procession was taken out from Peth Makhama to Magam.
Interacting with media representatives, Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool Hami said that the month of Rabi-ul-Noor is a great blessing from Allah Almighty, during which people across the world who love Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and believe in human values remember, celebrate and strive to implement the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ in their practical lives.
He said that Karwan-e-Islami International organises hundreds of Milad processions, religious gatherings, seminars and symposiums at different places across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country during the month of Rabi-ul-Noor. He said the basic objective of these programmes is to spread the universal message of the Prophet ﷺ based on peace, love, brotherhood, justice, mercy and service to humanity.
Referring to the Milad procession from Asar-e-Shareef Peth Makhama to Magam, Dr Hami said that the procession has been organised regularly for nearly 25 years. He said devotees participate in it with religious enthusiasm, while special prayers are offered for peace, security, prosperity and brotherhood in Jammu and Kashmir, the country and the entire world.
Dr Hami emphasised that the message of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a message of peace, mercy and humanity and should not be confined merely to celebrations, processions and religious gatherings. He said the true spirit of Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ lies in bringing positive change in one’s character and actions and making the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ a part of everyday life.
He appealed to people to respect and serve their parents, saying that fulfilling the rights of parents is an important part of the teachings of the Prophet ﷺ. He urged people to respect the rights of their family members, relatives, neighbours and other members of society and contribute towards building a compassionate, responsible, morally strong and harmonious society.
Expressing concern over the growing trend of drug and alcohol abuse in society, Dr Hami made a special appeal to the younger generation to stay completely away from drugs, alcohol and other intoxicating substances. He said that youth are the future of every nation and protecting them from the menace of drugs is a collective responsibility of society.
He appreciated the efforts and measures taken by the Jammu and Kashmir Police over the past two to three years in combating drug abuse, saying that continuous efforts have contributed to increasing public awareness about the need to eradicate drugs. He also called for collective and effective efforts against the consumption of alcohol and other intoxicating substances.
Dr Hami said religious gatherings and Milad programmes can play an important role in bringing positive change, social reform, moral education and public awareness. He urged religious scholars, civil society, administration and the general public to work together against social evils and promote peace, brotherhood, mutual respect and harmony.
On the occasion, Dr Sheikh Ghulam Rasool Hami extended greetings to the Muslim community on Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ and prayed for peace, prosperity, brotherhood and communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, the country and across the world.
He also appreciated the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Traffic Police, SDPO Magam and other concerned departments for their excellent arrangements and cooperation during the Milad procession. Dr Hami said that due to the coordinated efforts and proper arrangements made by the police, Traffic Police and other departments, the procession concluded peacefully and in an organised manner without causing inconvenience to participants or the general public.
Dr Hami expressed gratitude to police and traffic personnel, district administration officials, volunteers, devotees and local residents for their contribution towards making the Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ celebrations and procession successful, peaceful and well-organised.
He said Eid Milad-un-Nabi ﷺ is not merely an occasion to express love for Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, but also conveys the message of implementing his teachings in practical life. He urged people to study the Seerat-un-Nabi ﷺ and incorporate its teachings into their individual and collective lives so that the values of peace, love, brotherhood, compassion, respect and service to humanity can be further strengthened in society.
