Srinagar, Sept 3 (JKNS): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has convened a meeting of the sub-committee on issues concerning the Union Territory of Ladakh in New Delhi on September 9, officials said.
Ladakh Chief Secretary Ashish Kundra confirmed the development, as per news agency JKNS, stating that the MHA has fixed an official meeting of the sub-committee for September 9 in Delhi as part of the ongoing dialogue aimed at deepening democratic processes in the Union Territory.
The sub-committee, constituted in 2024, comprises representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ladakh administration, Apex Body Leh and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA).
The two civil society bodies have been seeking constitutional safeguards and greater political and administrative protections for Ladakh following the region’s separation from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and its transition into a Union Territory in 2019.
The upcoming meeting is part of the ongoing Centre–Ladakh dialogue on the political, administrative and constitutional concerns raised by stakeholders from the Union Territory. (JKNS)
