Srinagar, Sep 17 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat has accorded prior approval for attachment of landed properties registered in the names of two accused persons in a terror-related case in Kupwara.

As per an order accessed by news agency JKNS, the properties fall within the ambit of “proceeds of terrorism” under Section 2(1)(g)(ii) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and are liable to be attached in FIR No. 276/22 of Police Station Kupwara.

The properties registered in the name of Ab Majid Qureshi son of Ab Rouf Qureshi, resident of Kachama, Kupwara, include 10 kanals and 7 marlas of land along with a three-storeyed residential house.

The order further states that Parvaiz Ahmad Qureshi son of Mohd Mustafa Qureshi, resident of Kachama, Kupwara, has five kanals of land along with a single-storeyed residential house listed for attachment.

The prior approval has been accorded in exercise of powers conferred under Section 25 of the UAPA in connection with FIR No. 276/22 registered under Sections 120-B, 121, 121-A, 122, 123 IPC and Sections 17, 18, 18-A, 18-B, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of the UAPA at Police Station Kupwara.

The order has been addressed to DSP DAR Kupwara, with copies marked to ADG CID, IG Kashmir Zone, AIG CT/NT and SSP Kupwara.—(JKNS)
