Budgam, September 17: Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, under Mission Shakti of the Department of Social Welfare, Budgam, organised a special programme at Aga Syed Memorial District Hospital Budgam to celebrate the birth of newborn girl children under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme.
On the occasion, the birth of newborn girls at the hospital was celebrated, while essential kits containing necessary items were distributed among the newborn girls and their mothers. The initiative aimed to promote a positive attitude towards the birth of girl children in society and convey the message that their arrival should be welcomed with happiness and joy.
The programme was attended by Mission Shakti District Coordinator Afrooza Ahad, Gender Specialist Asifa Manzoor, Centre Administrator Gousia Rafiq Khan, Resident Supervisor Nilofer, besides officers, doctors and other staff members of District Hospital Budgam.
Speaking to the media, Mission Shakti District Coordinator Afrooza Ahad said that under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme, Sankalp Hub has been continuously undertaking various initiatives to encourage and support women, particularly girl children.
She said that organising such celebrations on the birth of a girl child sends a positive message to society about accepting and welcoming the birth of daughters with happiness.
Afrooza Ahad further said that various government schemes are available for girl children, providing them opportunities for education, development and self-reliance, enabling them to utilise their potential and progress independently in different fields.
She urged all sections of society to welcome the birth of girl children with happiness and contribute towards ensuring their education, safety, equal opportunities and a better future.
