Srinagar, Sept 19 (JKNS): A general health screening camp for hostel boarders of Government College for Women, M.A. Road, Srinagar, was conducted in collaboration with Khyber Medical Institute on Saturday, with 136 students availing themselves of the facility.

An eight-member medical team from the Institute, led by Dr. Shahnawaz Amin, Administrator & I/C Operations, carried out comprehensive health screening of the boarders.

The screening included medical consultations and health assessments, along with blood pressure, random blood sugar, BMI, CBC, serology and urine examinations.

The medical team also provided health-related guidance and awareness to the students.
Principal Prof. (Dr.) Yasmeen Farooq appreciated the initiative and thanked Khyber Medical Institute for extending healthcare support to the students.

She underlined the importance of such initiatives in ensuring timely access to healthcare and promoting preventive health awareness, particularly among hostel boarders.

Convener Hostel Committee, Dr. Suzana Bashir, appreciated the medical team for conducting the screening within the College and providing necessary advice and guidance to the students.

The health camp followed discussions between the College and Khyber Medical Institute on extending healthcare support to students. As part of the collaboration, the Institute has offered concessional rates for medical consultations and investigations to the hostel boarders of the college, besides a free 24×7 ambulance service for hostel boarders in case of medical emergencies.
