BJP Displays Posters On NHM Employees, Power Tariff And Daily Wagers; Congress Raises “Paper Leak” Slogan, NC MLAs Demand Restoration Of Statehood
Srinagar, Sep 21 (JKNS): The opening day of the autumn session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly witnessed noisy scenes and protests as members of the BJP, Congress, National Conference and CPI(M) raised different issues during the proceedings. The 10-day session began on Monday.
BJP legislators displayed posters seeking justice for NHM employees, rollback of power tariff and regularisation of daily wagers, while raising slogans against the government.
Congress members raised the slogan, “Paper leak sarkaar ko ek dhakka aur do,” during the protests.
BJP members also raised the slogan, “Nikammī sarkaar ko ek dhakka aur do,” while displaying their posters.
NC legislators, meanwhile, raised the issue of restoration of statehood and demanded that the promise of restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir be honoured.
CPI(M) legislator Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami also participated in the raising of issues during the proceedings.
The protests and slogan-shouting led to a face-off among members and disrupted the proceedings of the House.
The Speaker directed that the protest should not be recorded in the proceedings and should not be reported, according to information available with news agency JKNS.
The BJP had earlier indicated that it would raise issues including employment, daily wagers, power tariffs and the government’s record during the session, while statehood has also been identified as a key issue for the ruling alliance. (JKNS)
