Srinagar, Sept 29 (JKNS): National Conference MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Tuesday raised several issues during Zero Hour in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, including cases of children booked under the Public Safety Act (PSA), the Industrial Policy, reservation, journalists’ welfare and road infrastructure.
Speaking in the House, as per news agency JKNS, Sadiq referred to the recent situation following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, saying that some children had come out in protest and cases under the PSA were registered against them.
He said that cases against children in Ladakh were subsequently withdrawn and urged the government to consider similar action in Jammu and Kashmir.
“If it was possible there, why can’t it be done here? If we can do this, our children should also be released from jails,” he said.
Sadiq also urged the government to expedite the implementation of the Industrial Policy, saying that the matter should be taken up at the earliest.
He stressed the importance of proper macadamisation of roads and said that while laying bitumen, proper layers should be ensured to improve the quality and durability of roads.
On reservation, Sadiq sought an update on the reservation file and asked the government to clarify its status, referring to the concerns raised by the Leader of Opposition.
He also raised the issue of the General Category file and urged that it be returned after necessary action.
Sadiq further called for measures for the welfare of journalists in Jammu and Kashmir, including facilities such as pension and other benefits available to journalists in some other states.
He also called for widening of the road from Asai Bagh towards Sonamarg, urging the government to take necessary measures in this regard. (JKNS)
