Bandipora, Sept 30: In a significant enforcement action against drug-related activities, Police Post Ajas registered two separate NDPS cases during naka checking at Zadoo, Ajas, after allegedly recovering narcotic substances from two persons in consecutive incidents.
In the first case, police intercepted a person travelling from Ganderbal towards Bandipora for checking. During the search of his motorcycle bearing registration number JK01AF-9058, police allegedly recovered a solid, charas-like substance along with psychotropic tablets.
The accused was identified as Mohd Asrar Tantray, son of Mohd Maqbool Tantray, resident of Patipora, Saloora, Ganderbal. Following the recovery, FIR No. 219/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Sumbal, and investigation has been initiated.
In a second incident at the same naka, police intercepted another person travelling from Ajas towards SK Payeen. During his search, a solid, charas-like substance was allegedly recovered from his possession.
The person was identified as Javaid Ahmad Rather, son of Ghulam Nabi Rather, resident of New Colony, Ajas. Police subsequently registered FIR No. 221/2026 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Sumbal, and further investigation is underway.
The back-to-back recoveries highlight the continued enforcement efforts of Police Bandipora to curb the transportation, possession and use of narcotic substances and to strengthen action against the drug menace in the district.
