Bomai, Sopore: Sayar Ahmad Lone, proprietor of Sayar Electronics, has been elected as the new President of the Bomai Traders Federation after securing the highest number of votes in the traders’ election held in Bomai.
As per details available with news agency JKNS, a total of 143 votes were on the electoral roll, out of which 129 votes were polled. Sayar Ahmad Lone secured 50 votes, followed by Akhlaq Ahmad Peer with 43 votes and Tariq Ahmad Shah with 33 votes. One vote was rejected.
The election process was conducted successfully under the supervision of the Election Board, with members including Sayar Ahmad, Azad Ahmad and Anautulla Bhat.
The polling process was conducted by Polling Officers Mohd Sultan Bhat and Gh Nabi Bhat, while Counting Officers Bilal Ahmad Bhat and Sajad Ahmad Najar were entrusted with the counting process. Their coordinated efforts contributed to the smooth and transparent conduct of the election.
Speaking to the media after his victory, newly elected President Sayar Ahmad Lone thanked the traders and voters for reposing their trust in him.
“I sincerely thank all the voters who supported me and gave me this responsibility. We are all brothers and belong to the same trading community. Now we have to work together for the betterment of the Traders Federation and the entire market,” Lone said.
He said that a cleanliness drive would be among his first initiatives after assuming charge, followed by efforts to improve street lighting and washroom facilities in the market.
Lone further announced that efforts would also be made to start a Sumo service from Bomai to Sopore, which he said would benefit traders as well as the general public.
He assured traders that the new body would work for the welfare of the trading community and take up trade-related issues with the concerned authorities and higher officials for their early redressal.
“We will work for the welfare of all traders. Whatever trade-related issues our members face will be taken up with the concerned authorities and higher-ups so that appropriate solutions can be found,” he said.
Meanwhile, several voters expressed satisfaction over the successful completion of the election process, saying that they were happy to exercise their voting rights and participate in choosing the new leadership.
The voters hoped that the newly elected body would bring positive changes in Bomai’s trading sector, improve market facilities and work towards resolving issues faced by traders and the public.
