Mumbai, Oct 8 (JKNS): Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar passed away at the age of 75 after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, reports said.
As per news agency JKNS, The actor was found unconscious at his residence early Thursday and was subsequently rushed to Manipal Hospital in Dona Paula, where doctors attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes. He was declared dead at around 5:20 am, according to hospital sources.
Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, confirmed that efforts were made to revive the actor. A medico-legal case has also been registered and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Patekar, whose birth name was Vishwanath Patekar, had a career spanning several decades across Hindi and Marathi cinema, theatre and television. He was known for his intense performances, powerful dialogue delivery and distinctive screen presence.
His notable films included Parinda, Prahaar, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Yashwant, Ab Tak Chhappan, Apaharan, Welcome and Natsamrat, among others.
Patekar was a three-time National Film Award winner and was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution to the arts.
His death has sent shockwaves across the film industry, with colleagues and fans mourning the loss of one of Indian cinema’s most distinctive performers. (JKNS)
