Srinagar, Oct 9 (JKNS): A search operation was launched in the Rayil Gund forest area of Ganderbal district after two boys from Srinagar reportedly lost their way while trekking on Thursday.

An official told news agency JKNS that the missing boys, identified as Huzair and Minaan, contacted the Dial 112 emergency helpline and sought assistance after losing their way in the forest.

Following the distress call, teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) unit at Gund, Gund Police Station and the Dial 112 unit reached the area and initiated efforts to trace the boys.

Officials said that further contact with the boys could not be established as their mobile phones were found switched off.

The search operation was continuing to locate the missing boys, officials added. (JKNS)
