New Delhi, Oct 12 (JKNS): Delhi Police has de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated venue for holding protests and demonstrations and designated three new locations for the purpose, according to Standing Order No. L&O/48/2026.
As per the order, the Ministry of Home Affairs, as per news agency JKNS, Government of India, had constituted a committee to examine alternative suitable venues for citizens to exercise their right to organise protests and demonstrations in place of the existing designated site.
Based on the committee’s recommendations, Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi have been designated as the new venues for organising protests and demonstrations.
The order further states that a detailed and revised Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for organising protests and demonstrations at the three designated venues will be issued separately.
The standing order, signed by Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, partially modifies the earlier Standing Order No. L&O/48/22 dated April 28, 2022. (JKNS)
